Hope Cove - Dive Report:

The first weekend in September, just after the schools go back and the holiday season subsides, we took the RIB down to Hope Cove in Devon for a long weekend of relaxed diving in and around the Bigbury Bay area.

The previous week had seen miserable weather, but the gods were on our side and on arrival about midday Friday the sun shone over a calm blue sea – just perfect for a spot of lunch at the Hope and Anchor as we all met up after a long drive.

AGM:

November 17th 19.30hrs sharp at the Cranleigh Village Sports & Social Club . Please make sure you come along and have your say. This is also  the time at which you can stand for a position on the committee and offer your help and a small amount of time to the club for the next year. If you are thinking of a postion on your committee and are not sure what it involves just get in contact with a committee member.

Dinner Dance:

This is yet to be confirmed but if any one has any suggestions please get in touch.

Over the wekend we launched ‘Raffles’ without issue from the slip at Inner Hope and dived sites off Bolt Tail and around Burgh Island. At lunch we were able to simply tie the RIB up on the beach at Outer Hope and wander into the village. Thanks to the wonderful lady in the general stores/post office and the harbour master for making us so welcome.

Thanks also to John ‘Grandad’ Benn who came along to cox the RIB and enjoy the après dive as well as this lovely location.

Off Bolt Tail lies the wreck of HMS Ramillies which sank in 1760 and now consists only of some cannon which lie at the entrance to a cave – see picture

This is a lovely location with both scenic and wreck diving within easy reach. Everyone enjoyed the weekend and this is a location that will be back on the dive calendar in the near future!
